Hello, I’m Fred from Listening Method English dot com. I have my idiom cards today. We’re looking at idioms; I’ll pick one and we’ll see, what does it mean.

How about this one: to have a ball. Ball b-a-l-l like soccer ball, basketball. To have a ball: what does it mean?

It means: have a lot of fun. If you’re having a great time, a good experience, you’re having a lot of fun- you’re having a ball.

“We had a ball! We went to Joe’s party last night and we had a ball! It was a ball! The party was a ball.”

We had a ball means we had a really good time.
